Today we reached a incredible milestone with 20,000 players registered on Badminton Smash Hits, even though it’s still in Beta. All those players combined for over 211,000 games and for a total of more than 23,000 hours of play!
During the last couple of months, development had slowed down a bit because of other projects running side by side, but now there are new progress being made and it will continue until the end of the year.
We had some choices to make with the new engine when we first started to upgrade it, but now it’s taking form quite rapidly. The goal of the new engine is mainly to increase performance, but also to set the table to new features. Another benefit from the new engine is to have more efficient artificial intelligence from the opponents (or teammates), so if you find the current levels of difficulty too easy for you, you will finally meet your challenge.
Another choice we made with the engine was to consider mobile versions of the game. So right now, we are developing simultaneously the web engine and the mobile engine. The game will available for iOS and Android. The game experience will be almost the same on all platforms, except for the controls of course.
Engine prototype running on iOS.
A feature almost ready for deployment is the new game store, in which you will be able to purchase items to upgrade your player performance.
